Madewell Denim:
A classic pair of denim shorts that allows you to move around freely (aka chase the kids) and matches with anything is a must. Conveniently for moms, mid-length shorts are on-trend this summer. This relaxed pair from Madewell is a classic mid-wash with a 5-inch inseam and a side slit that allows for a little extra roominess in the legs.
Pro tip: We suggest getting one size down unless you want a baggy fit.
Madewell Fatigue:
A vintage fatigue short is a nice way to add a little variety to your shorts collection, and switch it up when you aren’t feeling denim. This pair has the softest, stretchiest fabric, and, to our surprise, was the most comfortable pair of shorts we tried on that day (yes, they came home with us!). This particular green color is a shade brighter than a traditional olive green, giving it a cool, summer vibe. The Madewell Fatigue also comes in rich khaki and a brick color, and we loved both colors. These shorts look great styled with a crisp white button-down and strappy sandals for a polished look, but can just as easily look great with a tee and sneakers.

Aritzia Wilfred Effortless Linen 5″ Short:
One of the summer’s hottest trends when it comes to shorts is linen. Yes, linen is always a go-to for summer thanks to its loose-weave fabrication that allows for maximum breathability. But combine linen shorts with pleats and a longer inseam, and you have the must-have shorts of the season.

A tried and true favorite, and for good reason. These Agolde shorts (found at various retailers – try Nordstrom’s!) feature a relaxed fit, mid-thigh inseam, and the perfect amount of distressing. They are comfortable and versatile and will become a go-to staple in your wardrobe for years to come.
